[Greeting of many greetings.]

[OPENING THEME MUSIC: Vancefurd- Pirate Song]

BAILEY: We’re like; oh I’m so excited.

SANDY: Ahoy, Pirates! This is Sandy! And that was Bailey being completely genuine about her excitement for this, our last pre-finale podcast.

[Cameron will make her earliest appearance ever in order to clarify that Sandy means pre-premiere podcast. Sandy works hard. Cut her some slack.]

BAILEY: Yes.

SANDY: It’s very exciting.

BAILEY: It is. It’s very exciting. And this is, this is genuine now.

SANDY: I know. I mean, it’s kind of hard to believe that we’ve like, reached this landmark state where we’ve finished one “season,” and I use air quotes when I say “season” there, folks. I know you can’t see me. I use air quotes because we weren’t there for the whole second season, but I feel like, you know, this is Neptune Pirate Radio. Season two.

BAILEY: Yes, it is. It does feel like that, because even though we weren’t there for the entire season two of Veronica Mars we’ve been doing it all summer and I think it’s kind of… this is the, this is the season finale of Neptune Pirate Radio, season one.

SANDY: Yes.

BAILEY: That’s what it is.

SANDY: Yeah. So this week we are going to give you what I think is somewhat of a treat. I mean I hope you like it. Um. When I went to Comic Con in San Diego we, the whole staff and Bailey and I, worked on these little montages, and made them a little CD and we gave it to them. And I have no idea if they ever listened to it. Hopefully they did. Um. And are not too mortified. But um, you know, just like a little gag reel and a little um, sort of like a little Best of Neptune Pirate Radio even though we haven’t been around that long. And so, we’re gonna share some of those montages with you guys this week.

BAILEY: Yes. It’s really funny. I haven’t listened to the clips since we actually edited together the compilation for the cast and it’s- I forgot how funny it is to listen to some of the earlier things that you don’t, like you don’t remember saying or doing, and just hearing it in contrast to what we do now.

SANDY: Yeah. Or, you know, it could be interesting or horrifying. Bad.

[Laughter]

SANDY: Depending on your definition. I should also tell everybody where my lovely co-hosts are. I was so excited to get reunited with everyone a couple weeks ago when we had our last podcast, and unfortunately well, I guess unfortunately for me but very fortunate for him, Theo is actually in Russia and Prague. So. You know. He’s doing that whole other hemisphere part of the world thing. And actually, it was really funny. He emailed us when he got to Russia, and he was walking down the street and looked over, and he actually saw an advertisement for Veronica Mars. Random.

BAILEY: Yeah. Wasn’t that neat?

SANDY: I thought that was awesome.

BAILEY: Yeah. It’s great.

SANDY: And I don’t know if he’ll see any advertisements in Prague, which is where he is now but, you know, fingers crossed. I don’t know if they would have subtitles or if they would use a voiceover, but I would love to hear voiceover Veronica Mars. I think it’d be awesome.

[Laughter]

BAILEY: Oh, that’d be great. I love voiceovers. I’m sorry. I love watching it when it’s dubbed in a different language.

SANDY: It’s always funny. It’s always entertaining.

BAILEY: It is. It’s hilarious.

SANDY: Um. And Scarlett is consumed with her first week of Uni, as they call it in the great land of Scotland.

[Throws in accent]

SANDY: I had to throw that in there for her ‘cause she loves to make fun of me when I make my Scottish voice. But, um…

BAILEY: Well actually, that one was actually pretty good.

SANDY: Thank you! We’ll have to get Scarlett approval on that one. Um.

[Laughter]

SANDY: Anyway, so that’s what’s going on there and that’s why they’re not here. Um. It’s also been kind of a, I think a big week in news for Veronica Mars.

BAILEY: Yeah.

SANDY: Uh. You can actually stream the premiere episode starting next week on the 26th. It will be available from www.msn.com. Unfortunately for people like me, it doesn’t work so well with the Mac computer. I think that sucks. Veronica uses a Mac. Her show should be available.

BAILEY: Yeah. Damn it. No. Um, I don’t know how I feel about this. Like, I think it’s exciting. But then I keep thinking, okay, well then you’re gonna have to wait two weeks to get to the second episode.

SANDY: Yeah.

BAILEY: I don’t know. There’s something, there’s also something very exciting about premiere night where I don’t know, I think I’m actually gonna wait.

SANDY: I, you know, I haven’t decided if I’m gonna try to work really hard and find a way to watch it, or if I’m just gonna wait and hold out and hide away from the computer for a week, and hope that I don’t get spoiled.

BAILEY: Right.

SANDY: Speaking of, we are gonna have actually one segment this week, and it’s all gonna have to do with spoiler etiquette. That’s gonna be fun, right guys?

BAILEY: Yes.

SANDY: By guys I mean you.

BAILEY: Spoiler etiquette is very important. Yes.

SANDY: It’s very, very important, particularly when you have something like the first episode streaming online before, which means that a whole host of people who aren’t necessarily spoiler whores are gonna be seeing the episode early, so. We’re gonna provide a little spoiler etiquette for you all. No spoilers in our spoiler etiquette section, so none of you Pirates have to be aware. Also this week, tvguide.com has interviews available with almost all of the cast. I should warn you before you go there that some new characters are interviewed as well. So if you’re staying away from all information about new characters or any changes in the plot, you should stay away from the site entirely. And I should also warn you that some of the interviews are more spoilery than others. So proceed with caution. I think if you wait until after the first episode has aired and then you want to go back to tvguide.com to watch them, they’ll probably still be available and at that time I don’t think that there will be any spoilers for you.

BAILEY: Right. Yeah. I’ve bookmarked everything. I’m saving it for that Wednesday while I’m bored at work.

SANDY: I think that’s a good plan. I think that’s the solid plan to take. Um. Also launched this week – I believe they were launched this week – are the official Veronica Mars character MySpace pages. The show has jumped on that bandwagon.

BAILEY: It’s actually- it’s kind of cool. When I first heard about it I thought it was going to be just another fictional character blog type thing, like where it’s Veronica talking about like, today in whatever class I did this and then I saw so-and-so and so-and-so. But it seems like there’s gonna be a lot of original content on there, which is nice.

SANDY: Yeah. They already have some interviews up with some of the returning characters. Again, I’ll give you that url, but before I give you that url I do wanna make another spoiler claim, which is that if you go to the main page there are MySpace pages available for characters who are new to Veronica Mars. So again, if you don’t want to know anything about how many new characters there are, anything about the new characters or anything like that, then I would advise you to stay away from this site again until after the premiere episode. The web address for those of you who do know about new characters and aren’t afraid to learn information is: www.myspace.com/veronicamarscw. All one word. And, you know, if you’re not afraid to find out about new characters then check it out, because I thought it was pretty cute. They come up with little um, answers to the, the questions. I mean it gives you people’s astrological signs, and I know a lot of us always wonder like, when is Logan’s birthday? Um. And you should friend, if you’re on MySpace, you should friend those characters and up their numbers, ‘cause we wanna have good representation on the Internet. That’s one of the things that Veronica Mars is famous for.

BAILEY: Right. You sounded very newscaster during that.

SANDY: Thank you!

BAILEY: You’re like, www.myspace.com.

SANDY: Well I don’t have, I don’t have Scarlett’s accent going for me, which is why she always does the Special Bulletins, because she always just sounds good no matter what she’s saying. And I feel the pressure to… to sound good. Because I don’t have the accent working for me.

BAILEY: No, it wasn’t a bad thing. It was just, it was kind of cute, actually.

[LoVe is in the air.]

SANDY: Well thank you. Um. All right. Well on that note, we’re gonna take our first little break, and we’re gonna come back with some spoiler policy etiquette from Bailey and Sandy.

BAILEY: Stay tuned people. It’s very important. Very, very, very important.

SANDY: See you soon, Pirates!

[CLIP SHOW AUDIO PLAYS. This does not get transcribed. Listen instead. It’s totally worth it.]

[P.S.- There is swearing! Hee!]

SANDYCALL: What’s up, Pirates? This is Sandy, and my Internet died on um, take 45 of this segment. So, we had to do a phone-in.

BAILEY: Yes.

SANDY: I know it’s awesome.

[CAMERON: AWESOME!]

BAILEY: It’s great.

SANDY: But I’m on my cell phone, so. That’s cool. I feel like I am, you know, talking to you on a closer level somehow. I don’t know. It’s like you’re all my friends and I’m chatting with you on my cell phone.

[Laughter]

BAILEY: We’re all buds here. We’re all buds here.

SANDY: It’s also like midnight, so. You know. Keep that in mind. All right. We’re here with the spoiler segment that we promised, and I’ve done this intro like, 45 times. So. I’m gonna be a little less enthusiastic about it this time around. Um. There are two things that I meant to talk about in our intro section and I’m gonna mention them here instead because: I forgot. But first is that we totally dropped the ball on Talk Like a Pirate Day. Talk Like a Pirate “Aargh” Day. And Scarlett actually recorded this really awesome little ditty that we were gonna put a special bulletin out for, but then of course the Internet – never our friend – intervened, and it didn’t work out. But we will get it into a podcast at some point in the future, I promise. Just so you can hear Scarlett talk like a pirate for a couple minutes, because you know, who doesn’t ever wanna hear that?

BAILEY: Yeah. That’s always wonderful.

SANDY: Exactly. So, the other thing that I wanted to mention was the premiere parties that are taking place all over every major city, I think, just about, has one. And you can find out information about those if you go to the forums at www.watchveronicamars.net and check out the premiere con forums there, or you can go to Television Without Pity, the Veronica Mars boards there, and check out the Con thread. And if there’s not a big premiere con taking place in your area, well this is your opportunity to start one. So, sign up. And with that, I think we are ready to get to our spoiler segment.

BAILEY: Woohoo! Finally!

SANDY: Yes. Finally. Here we go. All right.

SANDY: Number one. Put spoilers under a cut.

BAILEY: Check your cuts in a private post before making them public.

SANDY: Don’t put spoilers in the text of your cut.

BAILEY: Remember that tag lines like “Prom scene: LoVe fans oh no” kind of give it away.

SANDY: Don’t assume that your friends’ spoiler policies are what you think they are. Remember, it takes a second to ask and a lifetime to apologize.

BAILEY: Spoiler bars are not always enough.

SANDY: Seriously. Black bar kisses black bar at Black bar Investigations kind of spoils the moment.

BAILEY: Remember what Michael said? They call them “spoilers” for a reason. If you put 10 white spoilers in a bag with one black spoiler, then you get-

SANDY: I don’t know where that’s going, but remember guest stars, promos, and previews are spoilers to some people.

BAILEY: If even for just one little second you think that what you’re about to say is a spoiler, chances are it probably is.

SANDY: Don’t make public icons or wallpapers out of scenes that have yet to air.

BAILEY: Just because someone involved with the show said it first does not mean that the information is not a spoiler.

SANDY: And finally, don’t spoil your friends just to show off what kind of knowledge you have. Seriously. We can tell.

BAILEY: All right.

SANDY: I think that’s a good list.

BAILEY: I think that’s it.

SANDY: I think that’s about it.

BAILEY: I think that’s about it.

SANDY: All right.

BAILEY: People, just use common sense.

SANDY: Exactly. Common sense. And one last bit of advice that I have to throw in there. Never ever, ever say, once you’ve spoiled someone, “Oh that’s not a big deal.”

[BAILEY groans]

SANDY: ‘Cause it’s a big deal to them. It’s a big deal to somebody. Okay. And with that, I think, you know, we’re ready to take our, our last break and go to another little montage segment.

BAILEY: Yeah. I believe it’s bloopers coming up, which is exciting.

SANDY: Yeah. You can hear all of the mess-ups that we don’t actually include in the podcast. Be amazed at how many there are. All right. We’ll see you soon, Pirates!

[GAG REEL BLOOPERS! They are funny! And more swearing!]

[Hee]

SCARVO: Hands In Pants, Mars’ fans. Hands. In. Pants.

SANDY: Okay, Pirates. We are here at the end of yet another podcast. I keep coming up with things that I forgot to talk about in the intro because seriously, so much stuff happened this week. Um. The CW launched. Hello. Um.

BAILEY: Just a little, just a little bit of news.

SANDY: Little, tiny thing… new network launches. Um. It launched this week. It started with America’s Next Top Model, which actually pulled in really good numbers, I think the best numbers for that show, and it won the night in the 18-34 demographic, which is great. I mean that’s exactly what the CW wanted to do. So let’s hope that Veronica Mars can keep up that trend, win that demographic in our night.

BAILEY: Yeah.

SANDY: Um. So that was huge. Obviously. And there is also information and forums and all that at www.cwtv.com. It’s constantly being updated so if you haven’t been there in a while, if you haven’t been there since it started you should check it out. There are some little Director’s Cuts of scenes from the new episode. Again, be warned about spoilers if you go there. Obviously you’re gonna be seeing part of the new episode, so. Anyway. That’s all the information I think we have that’s new. Bailey, you got anything?

BAILEY: I have nothing. I think that’s about it.

SANDY: All right. Well, on that night I think it is time for our inspirational quote of the week.

SANDY: And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape. The valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed. –The Bible

SANDY: Thanks, Pirates. We’ll see you next time.

BAILEY: Bye!
